Purpose Statement

The purpose of UPWARD is to recognize that "Every Child Is a Winner" by promoting:

Salvation

To share the love of Jesus Christ with everyone involved in the Upward Ministry.

Character

To help every child grow as Jesus did--spiritually, physically, mentally and socially.

Self-Esteem

To help every child grow in their understanding and enjoyment of sports.

Game Day Stars
What do they mean?

Blue represents Best Effort

Gold represents Best Sportsmanship / Spirit

Gray represents Best Offense/Cheer

Red represents Best Defense/Leadership

White represents Christ likeness

Star Awards are given to every player immediately following each game.  Players will receive iron-on stars to place on their t-shirt.  Help us to recognize the "winner" in every child when memory verse starts are distributed at practice and when game day stars are distributed at the end of each game.  These stars play an important role in building the self-esteem of your players.  Be sure to include clapping and praise for each child!

Parents Note:

You play a very important role in building self-esteem and confidence in your child and every child in this league.  Players will look to parents and coaches as models for sportsmanship, respect for authority, and positive attitudes.

Parents are expected to teach children respect for our buildings by observing & reinforcing the following policies:

  • Pick up trash
  • Bounce balls only in the gyms, not hallways
  • Do not throw balls against walls
  • Keep siblings off the courts/stage areas
  • Respect devotion time by staying quiet
  • Do not park in handicapped spaces without permits
